Packaging materials need to ensure protective performance while controlling cost and weight. The blending technology of solid glass beads and plastics provides an effective solution for this. The composite material made by blending solid glass beads with a particle size of 20-50μm with plastics such as polyethylene and polypropylene has a tensile strength increased by 25%-35%, a flexural modulus increased by more than 40%, and a density increased by only 5%-10%. In express packaging buffer materials, such composite materials can replace part of the foam plastics, which not only have better buffer performance, but also can improve the wear resistance of the materials and reduce damage during transportation; in the field of food packaging, after adding food-grade certified solid glass beads to packaging materials, the barrier property of the materials can be improved, and the shelf life of food can be extended. In production, a twin-screw extruder is used to achieve uniform mixing of glass beads and plastics to ensure stable material performance. In addition, such composite materials also have good recyclability, which conforms to the green development trend of packaging materials. With the rapid development of the e-commerce industry, the demand for packaging materials continues to increase, and the market potential of solid glass bead blended composite materials is gradually being released.
