In the oilfield cementing process, excessively high cement slurry density may lead to formation fracturing and affect wellbore stability. Hollow glass microspheres have become ideal cement lightening agents due to their low density and high strength characteristics. Adding them to the cement slurry in a certain proportion can reduce the slurry density from 1.8g/cm³ to 1.2-1.5g/cm³, while the compressive strength remains above 15MPa, meeting the cementing technical requirements. These microspheres have excellent chemical stability, and are not easy to react with cement components in the high-temperature and high-pressure downhole environment, and can maintain stable performance for a long time. Compared with traditional lightening agents, their spherical structure can improve the fluidity of cement slurry, reduce the resistance during construction, and increase the grouting efficiency by more than 25%. In addition, the addition of hollow glass microspheres can also reduce the shrinkage rate of cement stone, reduce the occurrence of cracks, and improve the tightness and durability of the wellbore. In deep well and ultra-deep well cementing, the application of hollow glass microspheres effectively solves the problem that traditional materials are difficult to balance density and strength, and promotes the upgrading of oilfield exploitation technology.
